Project Description

Development and operation of an internet portal to digitize the application process for “examination and treatment methods using high-risk medical devices pursuant to Section 137h of the German Social Code, Book V” (https://portal137h.g-ba.de). Until now, this process had been conducted via postal mail and email using Office documents.

The system went live in August 2023 (https://portal137h.g-ba.de/). It took six months to develop the initial system. Due to changes in relevant legal frameworks, the application must also be regularly adapted and expanded.

Key features of the project:
  • Iterative modeling of business requirements through workshops, documentation of results, and refinement via epics and tasks in the ticket system
  • Development of UI and UX design in accordance with the client’s style guide
  • Design and implementation of a smart application and processing workflow involving multiple roles, based on the analog model
  • Design and implementation of a dynamic processing workflow for digitally signing application data
  • Design and implementation of a form engine for creating digital forms based on their paper counterparts, featuring a high degree of form customization and form-specific versioning of the captured data
  • Providing the status of application data processing as PDF files
  • Design and implementation of a rights and roles model for parties to the proceedings, as well as user management (external and internal users) in the database
  • Customized email notifications to parties to the proceedings for all status changes to the application form
  • Creating and maintaining all tasks as tickets in the issue-tracking system
  • Integration of an email server for notification emails
  • Periodic deployment of all components, including PostgreSQL, as Docker containers in the test and acceptance environments, and finally in the production environment
